This was my first time using Prestige. I noticed their truck on the road and there was enough info as to what they do printed on the truck to satisfy what was looking for. I called and they sent a very nice gentleman (owner) and we discussed my repair job and came to a reasonable price. Was told 2- 4 weeks and they were ready within that promised time. They called and we agreed to a time and day to do the job. Their men were very respectful of my house and property and did the job quickly and neatly to my 100% satisfaction. I definitely will call them again for my window and door work in the future!

Rotten Window Restoration in Old Greenwich, CT

Our team recently completed a Rotten Window Restoration in Old Greenwich, CT, and this project stands out as one of the most challenging exterior repairs of the season. When we arrived, the window frame was swollen, peeling, and deeply deteriorated. The lower section had softened so badly that pieces of the casing fell apart at the slightest touch. Moisture had penetrated all the way behind the trim, causing extensive rot that spread far beyond what the homeowner initially noticed.

We began by removing the damaged trim and cutting out the soft, decayed sections of wood. Once the outer edges were stripped back, we could see the true scope of the issue — rot had traveled into the corners and compromised the support behind the stucco. Every Rotten Window Restoration in Old Greenwich, CT we work on starts with mapping every weakened area to ensure that the repair is not just cosmetic, but structurally sound. After clearing the debris, we treated the remaining frame with a deep-penetrating consolidant to strengthen the wood fibers.

Once stabilization was complete, we fabricated new trim boards to match the original dimensions and bevels. Precision matters in cases like this, especially when installing new pieces against textured stucco like the homes in Old Greenwich, CT. We secured the boards using stainless steel fasteners, then filled all seams with exterior-grade caulking that allows for seasonal expansion. This step is essential for preventing future moisture intrusion — a common issue along coastal regions.

After the structural work, we focused on the finish. We sanded the new trim, sealed all raw edges, and applied multiple coats of exterior paint formulated for weather resistance. The difference between the “before” and “after” was dramatic: the orange, soft, eroded wood framing was replaced with a crisp, solid, properly sealed structure. What once appeared beyond repair had become a clean, durable, fully restored window capable of lasting many more years.

We also inspected the surrounding windows and siding for early signs of deterioration. Often, moisture travels behind the wall surface, so catching issues early helps homeowners avoid expensive repairs later. Old Greenwich’s changing climate and proximity to water make wood rot a recurring problem, which is why our restoration approach always focuses on strengthening, sealing, and weatherproofing — not just covering the damage.

If you’re dealing with peeling trim, rotted wood, moisture infiltration, or visible decay around your windows, contact Prestige Window and Door Repair for expert rotten window restoration, wood repair, exterior casing replacement, and full window rehabilitation.
